2021 Perli Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
The nose on the Perli is, as typical, slow to emerge after cellaring. It is subtle, earthy, and savory. In other words, exactly what we always hope for from this vineyard. Some years we get bold blueberry and blackberry but this 21 is more restrained.
Dried fall leaves, a bit of hibiscus, jasmine, and fresh thyme sneak around the rim of your glass, not overt but teasingly. And in the background there is a hint of gun powder or flint. The palate presents another face to this wine, it is bright with soft cherry and cranberry notes. It has the delicate balance of a wine with more age on it with a good chunk of chalky tannin that will soften over time. The finish is still focused on these light cherry and cranberry notes but also hints at some roasted fall vegetable notes. (11.5.24 - Alan)
