2019 Transverse Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
We hold the Transverse Pinot back for a year or more than the other Pinots to let the wine more fully integrate prior to release. And those extra 24 months in bottle for the 2019 Transverse have really paid off delivering a supremely harmonious expression of Pinot noir. It has gained complexity and evolved to show more earthy notes than the primary fruit aromas of a young Pinot. There is a rich loam base with mushroom and a light scent of thyme floating above that base. This is a classic medium palate weight Pinot with light red fruit on the palate with a slight hint of salinity as the wine fades toward the long finish with drying tannins lingering. Again, that harmony is evident from the initial earthy aromas, across the medium palate all the way through the long finish. Another thing that demonstrates the aging potential and flexibility for food pairing for this wine is that the finish is absolutely mouth-watering without the feeling of pronounced acidity.
