2021 Cartograph Estate 777 Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
Because this wine was made from just three rows of a single block of clone 777 Pinot noir, it might not be the most complex Pinot in the world but it has a certain purity that is exciting to experience. Deep ruby in color the nose is full of dried leaves and a twiggy character that is balanced by generous floral notes. On the palate it is vibrant and energetic offering zippy pie cherries and pomegranate. It is a wine that comes directly at you with an earthiness that transforms into a very pleasant medium palate weight on the tongue with a finish focused on nicely refined oak tannins. If you are a clone nerd, drink this one young to showcase the clonal-specific flavors before the wine ages and gains character from time in bottle. (1.13.24 Alan)
