2017 Transverse Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
We hold the Transverse blends back a couple more years than most of our releases to allow the complexities of the blend to harmonize and integrate. This wine has moved away from the primary element of black fruit to a more earthy note. Black cherry and blackberry dominate with ripe fig and a twiggy, green tea component that is very attractive. The flavors are more earthy than the nose might suggest. Cigar box and fresh cut cedar come out first and then comes a nice ripe cherry note that brightens as the wine moves across the palate. The many different fermentation lots that went into this blend definitely give this wine a depth and richness that makes it a joy to experience as it opens up in your glass. It will age well and continue to evolve for many years. (Updated 3.22.24 - Alan)
