2017 Choate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes:
This is definitely a wine that is defined by its growing region. The Choate vineyard is in the cool western end of the Russian River Valley AVA in the sub-AVA of Green Valley. The cool growing conditions produce wines of great sophistication and subtle flavors. We've seen this wine take on palate weight in the past two years. It presents as a pretty bold Pinot on the front of the palate. Black cherry and breakfast tea are up front with pretty loamy forest floor aromas under those dark notes. Flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate lead to a long finish with a hint of blood orange late. Well integrated fine tannins stretch the finish out for a fun ride. (Updated 2.16.24 - Alan)
