2016 Choate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
The Choate vineyard sits in the Green Valley AVA. Green Valley is out on the western edge of the Russian River Valley AVA, making it a very cool site. The cold nights and slow-to-warm-up days create an environment that yields wines with subtle flavor and aromatic profiles. This wine is light ruby in the glass and has evolved in bottle to bring subtle baking spices to the foreground with soft plum and violets in the background. The wine has added some weight in the mid-palate over the past few years and there is a nice ripe dark cherry note that is matched in its palate weight by some nice tannins. It might have a little age on it but it feels youthful in the glass and will be solid for years to come. Drink now through 2026 (Updated 2/16/21 - Alan)
