2013 Riesling, Greenwood Ridge Vineyard
Tasting notes:
The first thing you notice is that this wine is golden yellow, almost luminescent. The aromas are classic aged Riesling: spiced honey, beeswax, and citrus blossom dominate with a little white rose hiding in there. This vineyard always offers up a little diesel note that some Riesling geeks are crazy about and some folks wonder if it should be there at all. We're definitely on the diesel bandwagon as Rieslings hit four to five years in the bottle. On the palate the wine has a medium palate weight giving up more diesel and honey notes. It is a little nutty and also quite creamy leading to a long finish that is very fresh. The finish is pretty and bright leading to a toasted hazelnut note to close out this lovely wine that has years to go before it is over the hill. (Updated 7.1.19 - Alan)
