2013 Choate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
Located in the cool end of the Russian River Valley (Green Valley is the official appellation), this was a new vineyard for us in 2013. This wine has added palate weight as it has aged. The aromatics are ripe and rich offering plum, dark cherry, and a fun baked fruit component that resembles a baked blackberry cobbler. There is also a light savory truffle note that hovers just under the fruity core. On the palate it offers more of the ripe fruit notes that are so plentiful on the nose. More wet earth and loam comes out on the palate with black tea and full finish with tannins that resemble a fine dark chocolate. (Updated 1.08.19 - Alan)
