2016 Starscape Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
As a younger wine the 2016 Starscape was brimming with Bing cherry and cola aromas. These classic Russian River Valley characteristics are always in the mix with Starscape but they have softened and the nose is showing more notes of earthy forest floor. This 2016 has a spring in its step; elevated acidity makes this a very vibrant and active wine on the palate. The Bing cherry note has transformed to a warm cherry galette and you also get a hint of something minty — maybe tarragon? — that lingers after a taste. This wine has evolved away from the fruity character of its youth and is showing beautiful finese and a wonderful lightness while still showing great complexity. (Updated 5.27.23 - Alan)
